A look at all the milestones the England captain equalled or broke as he scored his fifth Test century of 2021

Root became the country’s second-highest run-getter earlier on Friday, when he went past Graham Gooch’s tally of 8900 runs.1 – Root is the fastest to 9000 Test runs in terms of days taken. He reached the landmark in only eight years and 244 days from his debut to surpass Cook, who needed nine years and 93 days.Root, at 30 years and 227 days, is also the second-youngest to 9000 Test runs.
